The sign

We see them everywhere: on cars, bikes, motorbikes, luggage… and even on advertising!

But what does it mean?

ICHTHYS, a secret code in Greek

This fish is a cipher, a secret code. During the first century, the persecuted Christians under the Roman authorities used this sign as a secret code to recognize each other. At this time, Greek was more widely spoken than Latin in the Roman Empire.

Why a fish?

In Greek, ICHTHYS means fish. The five Greek letters coorespond to the first letter of each of the words in the declaration: Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior.

I
CH
TH
Y
S
Iessous
Christos
Theou
hYios

Savior

This is how the first Christians identified themselves to Jesus Christ.

At the time, declaring yourself a Christian had many consequences. Faithful to the teachings of Christ, a Christian lived differently than others at the time whose social life revolved around worshiping many gods, bloody festivities and sometimes debauchery. Only those who lived out their faith in all areas of their lives wore the label Christian.

What does it mean today?

The fish is a rallying sign for Christians, regardless of different denominations.

Those who use this sign testify to belonging to Jesus Christ. He knows Christ as Savior and Master, prays, and follows his teachings and example, in accordance with what the Bible says. For Christ, he surrenders any behavior that his Savior disapproves of and lives his life with a new foundation.

Balance and Prosperity

Just as the physical world is submitted to laws that keep it in balance, there are laws set out by the Creator of everything. Respecting these laws is the source of balance and prosperity in your personal, social and financial life.

What does this mean for EURHODE?

Beyond personal conviction, this sign is a way for us to affirm the principles that lead our business: transparency, integrity, truth and respecting the freedom of others.

The manager's stance

For me, the success of the business does not only depend on modern management strategies but above all on my commitment to Biblical advice:

"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. –
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."
Proverbs 9:10, 3:5
